Forensics Experience
Mr. Cohen brings to his forensic work more than 20 years of experience in the architectural design and facilities planning and management fields. Specifically, he has provided forensic services such as architectural analysis inspection and project management for cases involving commercial, industrial and residential facilities.
Mr. Cohen's skills include project development and management, development of construction drawings, specifications and schedules, preparation of construction and design-build solicitation packages, building performance simulation, and computer-aided design.
Design Experience
Mr. Cohen has extensive experience with both private sector and government construction projects. Prior to joining CTG he worked on a variety of design and design build projects for a number of private sector clients such as Avco Financial Services, The Irvine Company, and The Koll Company. He has also been responsible for the management of multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the design, analysis, and construction of projects for NASA, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and the General Services Administration. His tasks included project planning, design, task scheduling, cost estimating, specification preparation, subcontractor coordination, and the development and presentation of client briefings.
Representative Forensic Projects
Office Building, Orange County, CA
Investigated mechanical, plumbing and electrical deficiencies that resulted in a full work stoppage and redesign for a 2-story office building. Inspections were performed on behalf of the building owner.
Grocery Distribution Center, La Puente, CA
Investigated the cause of ceiling failure in the main cold storage freezer for a grocery distribution center on behalf of the insurer. The investigation focused on the construction of the thermal barrier and the causation of condensation problems above the ceiling.
Single Family Housing Development, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Investigated alleged deficiencies in the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems for a single family home development consisting of 56 residences on behalf of the developer.
Single Family Housing Development, Palmdale, CA
Investigated, reported HVAC and plumbing systems deficiencies for single-family home development on behalf of the sub-contractors.
Multi-Story Condominium, Los Angeles, CA
Investigated reported plumbing system failures in a 16-story condominium building. Inspections were conducted on behalf of the developer.
