July 1, 2010, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm - Matthew Burris, CTG's Director of Sustainable Communities and Climate Services is speaking at an event that is bringing together artists and urban planners in a collaborative effort to produce artwork and creative expressions that convey basic land use planning and sustainability principles and concepts. The project is called Art VULUPS (Art as a Vehicle to Understand Land Use Planning and Sustainability).
This unique project is sponsored and led by the Inland Empire Section of the American Planning Association (IES/APA). Mr. Burris will be leading a discussion along with other artists and planners about the importance of combining art and creativity in the land use planning process.
The Art VULUPS event is free and open to the public. It is being held at the Main Library in Riverside, CA from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For more information, please visit www.artvulups.org
July 19, 2010 - Michele Kato, Green Building Analyst at CTG, will be speaking at the MAGIC Summer Camp. "MAGIC" stands for "Mentor A Girl In Construction." The camp is a week-long event focused on teaching high school girls about the construction industry and providing them with hands-on experience, role models, and inspiration for future opportunities for women in the industry.
Ms. Kato will give a presentation designed to educate the group about the green building industry.
MAGIC Summer Camp is an annual event hosted by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and the Southern California Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.
